August-September Challenge: Colors of the Philippine Flag
by kulinaryaclub
Our August and September hosts were Ray of Wok with Ray, Oggi of I Can Do That, Chef Theodore Day Salonga of Chef By Day, and Boyet of Reel and Grill. Their chosen theme was, indeed, a challenge. Inspired by two major Philippine holidays—National Heroes Day and the death anniversary of Ninoy Aquino—they chose as their theme the four colors of the Philippine flag: red, white, blue, and yellow.

The rules of the challenge:
1. Use and show all four colors (or shades of them) on the dish, from plate or bowl to garnish.
2. You may include the color of your garnish as long as it is an edible garnish.
3. You are allowed to use one color on only one non-food item, i.e. the plate, bowl, or whatever you’d like to use to serve the dish.
4. Use of food coloring is allowed only if it comes from natural ingredients.
As expected, everyone rose to the occasion to meet this challenge. Enjoy the slideshow below of all the creative entries so far, and stay tuned for next month’s theme!
Thank you again to our August-September hosts for a unique Kulinarya challenge.
